Becoming a Human Design Energy Healer (Part 1): a spiritual journey

Where it all began

Before I ever explored modalities like the Emotion Code, Body Code, Belief Code, or Human Design, there was a deeper foundation shaping how I understood life.

That foundation comes from the teachings of Emanuel Swedenborg and the philosophy of the New Church. This was the church I grew up in as it was my family’s church, so these ideas were present in my life long before I consciously understood them. I remember attending Sunday school and those times being joyful learnings about God. When I was 9 years old, I was given a book, the Shorter Heaven and Hell (view the full version in pdf here) which explained the concepts of heaven, hell, angels, spirits, the process we go through after physical death, and the spiritual world. When I read this book in my early teens, I was fascinated, and it gave me the foundational knowledge that there is indeed life after physical death.

My journey to becoming a Human Design Energy Healer was formed with a foundation and personal understanding of God as our divine creator, source, and the universe.

Alongside this, I was also immersed in broader Christian environments. I attended Anglican churches, youth groups and holiday camps, and went to a religious school, which gave me multiple perspectives on faith and God from an early age. As an adult I also enjoyed participating in a Women's Bible Study Group.

Who I am today, as a Human Design Energy Healer, is shaped by this foundation and journey, an understanding of the Lord as the source of all life, the universe, and our creator - integrated with the healing and Human Design modalities I now practice.

At its core there is a truth that continues to guide both my life and my work:

We are spiritual beings living a physical experience, and the two are intimately connected.

The principle that gave me language as a Human Design Energy Healer in my journey

One of the most powerful concepts in Swedenborg’s theology is the idea of correspondences.

In simple terms:

Everything in the physical world corresponds to a deeper spiritual reality.

Our bodies, our emotions, our thoughts, and our lived experiences are not separate from our inner world, they are expressions of it.

When I began to understand this, it gave language to something I had always felt but couldn’t fully articulate. It created a sense that there was meaning beneath what we see on the surface. That our inner world is vast and a critical part of who we are.

The source of it all

What deepened this understanding over time was recognising that this connection between the spiritual and the physical is not just a system, it has a source. In the teachings of Emanuel Swedenborg, that source is the Lord.

Not as something distant or abstract, but as the very origin of life itself, the source of all love, all truth, and all order. This means the connection between our inner and outer worlds exists because of that divine origin.

This has always been an inner truth for me, a quiet knowing that God is real, that God is love, and that God is the source of all life.

This understanding forms the foundation of everything I do, and is a core part of how I approach my healing work. I believe that all healing comes from the Lord - I'm just the physical guide! At the same time, I recognise that the language we use to describe this can be deeply personal.

For some, the term God or Lord resonates. For others, it may feel more aligned to connect with words like Universe, Divine, Source, or Creator. As you read, I invite you to interpret this in a way that feels true for you.

How this shaped my approach to healing

As I later discovered energy healing modalities, I began to notice something interesting.

Different language. Different frameworks. But the same underlying truths:

• The Emotion Code speaks about emotions held in the body

• The Body Code explores imbalances beyond the physical

• The Belief Code works with subconscious patterns

• Human Design maps our energetic blueprint.

  
  

Each of these, in its own way, reflects the idea that what is happening internally is expressed externally.

For me, this work is not just about identifying or clearing patterns. It’s about recognising that healing happens when we begin to realign with a deeper order, one that originates beyond the physical.

Bridging spiritual truth and modern practice

What I’ve come to appreciate is that the teachings of Emanuel Swedenborg don’t sit separate from modern healing modalities, they quietly underpin them.

Not in a direct or technical way, but in principle. They offer a foundation that reminds me:

• There is a relationship between the spiritual and the physical

• There is meaning behind what we experience

• There is a source behind that meaning.

  
  

For me, this is where the Lord comes in, not as a concept to be explained, but as something to be recognised through experience. Through awareness, alignment and the shifts we feel within ourselves.

The beginning of my journey

This understanding didn’t make me a human design energy healer overnight. But it grounded me. It gave me a way to trust what I was sensing, even before I had the tools or language to fully express it. It allowed me to approach healing not just as a technique, but as a process of coming back into alignment with something deeper.
